Canoa Quebrada
Famous for its cliffs that face out to the sea, Canoa Quebrada is one of the best known beaches in Ceará. The region, located in the municipality of Aracati, has a long line of high reddish walls that have become the postcard of this beautiful location. And or course, it has the customary coconut trees and a green seas to complete this beautiful landscape.
The cuisine of Canoa Quebrada is principally made up of fish, stingray and other seafood, such as lobsters, crabs, shrimp and oysters. The main street is named Broadway, and it’s there where you’ll find all the nightlife. You can discover bars and restaurants that cater to all tastes.
Jericoacoara
Jericoacoara is a sure favorite for travelers from all around the world. Thanks to the dunes, mangroves, clear waters and rock formations, this place a true tropical paradise. Jeri, as it is known locally, is located in the municipality of Jijoca de Jericoacoara, 300 km from Fortaleza, the capital of Ceará.
Jeri is part of the “Rota das Emoções”, which translates as something like “the route of excitement”. This route is known by tourists from many regions and passes through the states of Maranhão – Lençóis Maranhenses, Piauí – Delta do Parnaíba and Ceará – Jericoacoara. It has many wonderful hotels, inns, restaurants and bars, which offer everything those visiting the locality could ever need.
Jericoacoara has unmissable attractions for fun and relaxation. There is Pedra Furada, a beautiful rock formation that is most beautiful at sunset, Duna do Pôr do Sol, another popular point to watch Ceara’s most famous sunset from, Lagoa do Paraíso and Buraco Azul, 2 beautiful lakes to swim and relax in. Buraco Azul appeared more recently and has become a sensation for its unusual turquoise blue color.
Icaraizinho de Amontada
Icaraizinho de Amontada is perfect for those looking for tranquility and stunning scenery. The place is approximately 200 km from Fortaleza and offers great places to stay, in addition to restaurants and beach bars.
The beauty of the place is thanks to the landscape, with a glistening beach during sunset, calmer waters and an abundance of coconut trees. For the more adventurous visitors, the strong winds of the region provide a great location to practice sports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing.
Barra dos Remédios
At barra dos remédios, in Camocim, the sea is always calm. The beach is surrounded by dunes, which dominate the landscape, and in this paradise it is also possible to enjoy the meeting of the river with the sea, which forms natural pools with clear waters.
This place, which is located about 360 km from the capital, is still little explored and for this reason, there is less in the way of infrastructure. However, it is well worth the visit as it is possible to enjoy beach buggy rides and is a great location for kitesurfing and windsurfing.
Flecheiras
In Ceará it is summer all year round and Flecheiras, in Trairi, is another great place to enjoy the wonderful weather of Ceará. The place is perfect to relax and enjoy the beauties of nature. Here you will enjoy calm waters and beautiful natural pools, which appear daily at low tide.
This beautiful region is a fishing village, located about 130 km from Fortaleza. The place has very few urbanized streets, with many simple and rustic houses. However, the tourist structure offers great restaurants, hotels and inns.
Porto das Dunas
Located in the municipality of Aquiraz, about 25 km from Fortaleza, Porto das Dunas beach draws attention with its blue seas and strong waves that attract surfers, windsurfers and kitesurfer alike. In addition, its warm waters are great for a refreshing dip. The region offers many great hotels and resorts.
The undeniable top attraction in Porto das Dunas however, is Beach Park. It is the largest water park in Latin America, and has incredible water slides amongst other attractions, where fun is guaranteed for children and adults alike! That’s why this is an excellent option for family vacations.
